Japan Matsuri 2017

London's cultural event proves big success

JET alumni were among attendees and volunteers at Japan Matsuri 2017, which celebrated its 9th anniversary this year. Held on Sunday 24th September in Trafalgar Square, the event was energetic and fun, featuring Japanese food, music, dance and other entertainment.

Highlights included a nine metre long canvas upon which attendees enjoyed drawing, a Nodojiman karaoke contest and displays of martial arts. The authentic food and drink also proved a big draw, with visitors enjoying some well-known dishes and some soon-to-be favourite ones.

The event was possible thanks to support from a wide range of international, national and local Japanese organisations, many of which were represented at the event. It was designed to showcase Japan in the UK and the myriad links between the two countries.
