JETAA London Learns About Sake At Kanpai Brewery

In June, JETAA London took advantage of the sunny weather and headed to Kanpai: London’s very own sake brewery. JET alumni were treated to a private tour with Tom, one of the co-founders, to learn all about how this traditional drink is brewed. It was a fascinating experience – we learned all sorts of weird and wonderful facts on how rice transforms into such an unusual and revered alcohol.

Their bar is only open in the summer months as they’re busy brewing and honing their skills in Japan over the winter months. We were lucky to not only get a tour but a taster of several types of sake that Tom and Lucy, the other co-founder, brew.

We had a wide range of alumni attending, from recent returnees to an alumni who participated in 1991! It’s always lovely to be able to swap stories and see new faces, so we’re glad to see so many people attended and enjoyed this event. We’re always trying new activities to keep JETAA fresh – get in touch if you have any suggestions/feedback.

To check out Kanpai for yourself – it’s a short 2 min walk just outside Peckham Rye station. Keep an eye out for their events here: kanpai.london
