Sailor Moon: The Super Live in London – A Dream Come True
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live is a high-energy 2.5D stage adaptation of the beloved Sailor Moon anime and manga series. In February 2025, the show made its London debut at HERE at Outernet, bringing the magic of the Sailor Guardians to the UK stage. JETAA was lucky enough to secure two free tickets to the event. One attendee, JETAA member Angela Chan, shares their experience attending this unforgettable performance.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been an avid fan of the Sailor Moon franchise. From a very young age, the magical girl saga captured my imagination with its heartwarming friendships, celestial powers, and, of course, those unforgettable transformation sequences. So, when I found out that Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live was coming to London, I knew I had to be there. And in February 2025, I had the absolute privilege of living out a childhood dream.
If I had to sum up the experience in one word, it would be: MAGICAL.
From the moment the lights dimmed, I was completely immersed. The show was a beautiful celebration of everything fans love about Sailor Moon — iconic music, nostalgic visuals, and powerful performances. The costumes were spot-on, the choreography was dynamic, and the special effects brought a dazzling energy to the stage. Every detail had been thoughtfully crafted, and the merchandise (yes, I bought way too much) was just the cherry on top.
What truly made the experience shine, though, was the cast. Each performer embodied their respective character with such passion and precision that it genuinely felt like the anime had come to life. The chemistry between the Sailor Guardians was heartwarming, and the emotional beats hit just right. One of the absolute highlights for me was when they performed the original anime opening theme song, Moonlight Densetsu. That moment transported me straight back to my childhood — I highly recommend grabbing an official light stick if you attend; it makes it all the more special.
The venue itself was relatively small and intimate, which turned out to be a huge plus. Unlike a massive arena, HERE at Outernet allowed fans to be close to the stage, making the experience feel more personal and interactive. I could clearly see each facial expression, every emotional nuance, and even the subtle gestures that brought the characters to life.
I was fortunate enough to see a Sailor Moon musical in Japan during my time on the JET Programme, and while that production had a grander scale — with a larger stage, more elaborate sets, and a bigger cast — the London show held its own in the most charming way. The team behind The Super Live made smart use of the space, lighting, and props to deliver a performance that was both visually impressive and emotionally resonant.
And the best part? There was a meet-and-greet at the end! We got to high-five the Sailor Guardians, which was the perfect way to wrap up such a heartwarming night. I left the venue with a huge smile on my face, a full heart, and a renewed love for the franchise that has meant so much to me over the years.
If you're a fan of Sailor Moon, or even just curious about 2.5D musicals, this show is an absolute must-see. Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or discovering the magic for the first time, The Super Live delivers an unforgettable experience. I would go again in a heartbeat.
